The Perm: Round 3

“A permanent wave, commonly called a perm, is the chemical and/or thermal treatment of hair to produce waves, curls or straight hair. The use of the word ‘permanent’ is justified insofar as when the wave is permed, it remains so; however, as the hair grows, the new hair that grows has not been waved, while cutting the hair from the end removes that which is waved, giving the impression that the permanent wave gradually disappears.” (Wikipedia)

“A permanent wave, commonly called a perm, is the inherently wrong fashion decision made by famous Japanese rockstars to produce waves, curls, or straight hair. The use of the word ‘permanent’ is justified insofar as when the wave is permed by GACKT, it remains so; however, as the hair trend grows, the new hair that grows has not been waved, and thus the band is no longer accepted into Visual Kei society, giving the impression that the permanent wave will never disappear.” (gacktpause)

  1. Lmao! XD Tbh, it is really one of the worst looks D’espa have sported recently. In general, I’m not a fan of J-rockers wearing hats…although Hizumi doesn’t look *that bad*. At least it’s not as bad as the bowler hat Zero wore during the REDEEMER PV….though even THAT was better than how Zero looks now. DX The combination of his strange eyebrows and half-permed hair honestly makes him look like “D’espa’s creepy bassist replacement” rather than “D’espa’s Bassist, Zero.” XD

      Haha. Well said.
I thought Karyu and Tsukasa looked passably fine…although Karyu’s delicate and unusual features really didn’t need to be turned into the face of a white woman. Hizumi looks like a serial killer in the making, and Zero looks like a combination of When Host Clubs Go Wrong and Makeup Artists Get Revenge.
I’d let them all cover their perms with bowler hats and fedoras if only girugamesh’s Nii could be forced to hand over the monstrosity he has been sporting lately…
